It is a wine with limited production only made with our oldest and small vineyards in exceptional years using vines with something different.

VINEYARD: It comes from our old selected vineyards of Tempranillo, small plots planted almost two generations ago which the fruit has an incomparable complexity and balance. Vineyards carefully cultivated in bush vines, growing in very poor soils with very low yield, with an exceptional complexity. It is the result of a living plant with almost 100 years of experience. As a result of the respect that we show for these vineyards, the viticulture practices applied are the most respectful with the plant and the soil, thus minimizing the sanitary treatments needed to maintain its health.

PRODUCTION: Plots are harvested after under an strict analytical control and tasting in the field. Hand- picked grapes in 15 kg boxes, manual sorting upon arrival to the cellar, choosing only the bunches that show excellent health and maturity. Each plot is vinified without crushing the fruit, in open barrels of 500 l, where a complete elaboration is done manually. Maceration is determined by tasting, lasting usually around 25-26 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels with daily batonages during winter time.

AGEING: 24 months in barrels, 100% French oak from different cooperages, toasting levels and volumes. Only the best plots or barrels are assembled at the end of the aging period. 3.500 bottles produced.

VINTAGE: After a moderately cold winter with good rainfall, spring brought high temperatures, which caused a breakthrough in sprouting. Fortunately, the spring frosts that followed didn’t affect the vines and the cycle continued in an orderly manner, helped by the good temperatures of summer months accompanied by cool nights, which greatly favors the aromatic and phenolic maturity. Finally, harvest started on September 27th at the warmest limestone zones and finished on October 7th in the coolest areas, with excellent health and maturity. An exceptional vintage that has given us ripe, complex, powerful, balanced wines with very high ageing potential.
