MESSWEIN® GRÜNER VELTLINER The Messwein, or altar wine, is the most traditional Grüner Veltliner of the winery. The origin of the Schloss Gobelsburg estate was founded on the necessity to have suitable wines for the liturgy. With the nature-friendly care of the vineyards and the grapes, ecclesiastical purity requirements are keenly observed. Altar wine must be natural and not amended in any way. Chemical or taste-changing additives are not allowed. Altar wine can be produced only with the permission of the bishop. With an alcohol content between 12% and 12.5%, our Messwein is on the same quality level as the classic Kamptal Grüner Veltliner – fresh, easily approachable and pleasant to drink. Description: Fresh and gripping from the beginning, after ginger and lemon balm, very lively; full-bodied, slim to medium weight, citrus fruits, especially grapefruit, and distinct black pepper in the end.
