Ried (single vineyard, cru) Steinsetz is situated south of the castle just outside of the village Gobelsburg and is marked by sedimentation material of Danube and Traisen. Depending on the size of the flow smaller or larger pebbles – mostly quartzite – were deposited. The sediments are covered by loess of 10 to 50 cm. From a cooler, late-ripening vineyard on gravelly soils, the Gobelsburger 2018 Ried Steinsetz offers a deep, intense and elegant, spicy and flinty bouquet of ripe and concentrated white fruits and broken stones. Full-bodied, intense and firmly structured, this is an expressive, elegant and sustainable Veltliner with remarkable purity and finesse as well as a promising phenol structure that gives good, food-friendly tension. 92 pts RP
